As mentioned in an earlier post, my family and I recently celebrated my cousin’s 40th Birthday at Hillebrand Winery, in the Niagara Region. I volunteered to make seating cards for the dinner portion of the evening.
I was inspired by the rustic wine cellar of Hillebrand Winery which is where the dinner took place. I recycle, reused and reinvented old pieces of paper into a crafty new seating cards! For some of the cards, I took junk mail flyers that usually automatically get tossed into the recycling, and reused the paper in the seating cards. Each seating card was one of a kind and had its own rustic collage style theme. I hand crafted all the cards in the comfort of my home except for the names that were stamped with block letters at Miracle Thieves, which hold an Open Art Studio Night every Wednesday.
Not only were the cards used for seating placement but were made large enough so that the guests could write a special note on the back for the birthday girl. Some guest also kept the cards for them selves and wrote down notes about the wine that was served that evening!
So before you throw out any unused scraps of paper, or junk mail – Remember that there could be another use for it! Be creative!
